ISSAQUAH, WA –Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Under Secretary for Rural Development Xochitl Torres Small announced that four farms in the 8thDistrict, Mensonides Farms, Windmill Gardens, Lee’s Fresh Produce, and Windy N Ranch, each received a Value Added Producer Grant of $250,000. According to the USDA, this $1 million investment will support these small family farms, boost local farming and marketing, and also create 18 new jobs and save 5 existing ones.

ISSAQUAH, WA – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) took action this week to expand access to at-home, rapid tests for seniors and military families. Earlier this month a federal rule went into effect that would require private insurers to cover eight at-home test purchases at pharmacies. But millions of Americans don’t have private insurance. The two letters Rep. Schrier led would require Medicare and TRICARE to cover or reimburse the cost of rapid tests, giving our seniors and our men and women in uniform another tool in the toolbox to combat this virus.

Quality masks would help keep schools open and protect kids who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated

The Biden Administration announced this week that they will be making 400 million N95 masks free for pickup at pharmacies and community health centers across the country.
