WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) introduced the Farmers Feeding Families Act of 2022 to support small and medium sized farmers and producers by making fresh, healthy, locally grown food more available to families in need. The bill does this by allowing states to use federal funds to buy nutritious food from local farmers for distribution at nearby emergency feeding organizations.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) sent a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy about two urgent postal operations issues in the Maple Valley/Covington region and in Cle Elum. Some residents in the Maple Valley/Covington region haven’t had mail delivery in several weeks. And the post office in Cle Elum was forced to move to a trailer earlier this year after a sewer line broke and asbestos was found in the building.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today U.S. Representatives Kim Schrier, M.D. (D-WA) and Peter Meijer (R-MI) introduced the Tax Credit for Student Parents Act. This bipartisan bill will make sure that student parents who are working to get a post-secondary degree, including vocational school and two and four-year universities, are eligible to receive the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (CDCTC), which helps to offset working families’ child care expenses.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today the U.S. House passed several law enforcement funding bills, including a bill Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) is a co-sponsor of, the Invest to Protect Act. The Invest to Protect Act will provide funding to small police departments to make sure they are equipped to respond to emergencies and keep their community safe. The bill passed the House 360-64.
