Eighth District Veteran to Join Representative Schrier as State of the Union Address Guest
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Kim Schrier M.D. (D-WA) will be joined by local Veteran, Andrew Apple, as her guest to President Biden’s State of the Union Address to Congress.
Andrew Apple is a Veterans Law Fellow who is currently working in Representative Schrier’s office and a recipient of VA benefits made possible by the PACT Act.
"Our nation's Veterans have sacrificed so much in defense of our country. It is important that we show up for our Veterans, the same way they've shown up for us, and make sure they have access to the care that they deserve," said Rep. Schrier. "As a doctor, I understand the importance of high quality, affordable care, and the PACT Act is doing just that. I'm proud to be a leader on this issue and am honored to be accompanied by Andrew this evening for the State of the Union Address.”
“Representative Schrier vigorously supported the PACT act to make sure every Veteran in her district gets the healthcare and benefits they have earned,” said Andrew Apple. “She has staffed her district office with Veterans through the Wounded Warrior Fellow and Veterans Work Study programs, and since taking office in 2019, she has personally met, thanked, honored, and pinned over 100 Vietnam Veterans in her district to whom we all owe a great debt of gratitude. It is an honor to accompany such a champion for Veterans to the State of the Union Address tonight.”
