Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) recently met with Chief Vicki Christiansen of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service for a meeting on the 2019 wildfire outlook. At the bipartisan meeting held by the Committee on Agriculture, Rep. Schrier formally invited Chief Christiansen to visit Washington's 8th Congressional District to further the goals outlined in the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08), Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06), Rep. Kendra Horn (OK-05), and Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32) introduced the Better Service to Borrowers Act. The legislation would require the Department of Education to create a common loan servicing manual to ensure that no matter who services their student loans, borrowers receive the same basic quality of service.

(Washington, DC) – Today, Representatives Kim Schrier, M.D. (D-WA), Annie Kuster (D-NH), Tim Burchett (R-TN), Fred Upton (R-MI), and Harley Rouda (D-CA) introduced H.R. 3334, the Expanding Access to Graduate Education Act, which would allow students who received a Pell Grant during their undergraduate education to utilize their remaining Pell eligibility towards their first graduate degree.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) today sent a letter to the Office of Inspectors General for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Health and Human Services (HHS) demanding answers about the handling of separated children at the border. Two recent troubling reports about children being held in vans overnight, and the confiscation of life-saving medicine have compelled Rep. Schrier, a pediatrician, to request an investigation by the Inspectors General.
