Rep. Schrier’s Statement on House Passage of National Apprenticeship Legislation
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) released the following statement after voting for the bipartisan National Apprenticeship Act of 2021 that would create one million new apprenticeships over the next five years:
"The pandemic has left millions of people out of work and others looking to change careers. As we safely reopen the economy, we need creative ways to give Americans looking for work the skills they need while also filling open jobs.
Registered Apprenticeships, which allow people to ‘earn while they learn,' will immediately provide workers the opportunity to find stable, family wage jobs, thereby accelerating our economic recovery and giving families relief during this uncertain time. That's why I was proud to join my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support this important legislation."
