WASHINGTON, DC – Today Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08), Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06), Rep. Kendra Horn (OK-05), and Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32) introduced the Better Service to Borrowers Act. The legislation would require the Department of Education to create a common loan servicing manual to ensure that no matter who services their student loans, borrowers receive the same basic quality of service.

Rep. Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) released the following statement after voting for the $4.5 billion supplemental funding bill to help with care for children being held at the border:

(Washington, DC) – Today, Representatives Kim Schrier, M.D. (D-WA), Annie Kuster (D-NH), Tim Burchett (R-TN), Fred Upton (R-MI), and Harley Rouda (D-CA) introduced H.R. 3334, the Expanding Access to Graduate Education Act, which would allow students who received a Pell Grant during their undergraduate education to utilize their remaining Pell eligibility towards their first graduate degree.

WASHINGTON, DC – As Washington State's fire season begins, Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) is proud that her amendment on the fair transfer of firefighting equipment passed out of Committee today as part of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020. WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) today sent a letter to the Office of Inspectors General for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Health and Human Services (HHS) demanding answers about the handling of separated children at the border. Two recent troubling reports about children being held in vans overnight, and the confiscation of life-saving medicine have compelled Rep. Schrier, a pediatrician, to request an investigation by the Inspectors General.

The bill was passed as part of a larger package to strengthen Americans' retirement security called the SECURE Act (H.R. 1994). The bill now moves to the Senate.
