WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) joined bipartisan colleagues, including Washington Reps. Dan Newhouse and Cathy McMorris-Rogers, to introduce the Farm Workforce Modernization Act.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) has introduced a bill with Reps. Cheri Bustos (IL-17) and Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) that would authorize a five percent annual funding increase over the next five years at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The America Grows Act would restore U.S. commitment to publicly-funded agriculture research, which has been largely flat for decades. A companion bill has been introduced in the Senate by Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL).

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08), with Reps. Tom O'Halleran (AZ-01), Elissa Slotkin (MI-08), and Suzan DelBene (WA-01), introduced the Medicare Vision Act of 2019 (HR 4665) that will expand Medicare Part B coverage to include routine vision benefits. Right now, Medicare only covers surgery and screenings for people who are at a high risk of getting cataracts and glaucoma. Today, HR 4665 is being marked up by the Energy and Commerce Committee along with HR 3.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) today hosted a congressional panel in D.C. on her bill, the VACCINES Act. One of the panelists who Rep. Schrier invited to participate was Jeffrey Duchin, M.D., the Health Officer for Public Health-Seattle and King County. Other participating groups included the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Association of County & City Health Officials, and Trust for America's Health.

WASHINGTON, DC –Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (D-WA) and Congressman Phil Roe, M.D. (R-TN) have introduced the Improving Provider Directories Act (HR 4575). The bill will increase the accuracy of the information listed on health plan provider directories to protect patients from surprise out-of-network bills.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) recently met with Chief Vicki Christiansen of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service for a meeting on the 2019 wildfire outlook. At the bipartisan meeting held by the Committee on Agriculture, Rep. Schrier formally invited Chief Christiansen to visit Washington's 8^th Congressional District to further the goals outlined in the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy.
