The Healthy Meal Time Act would provide schools with best practices for scheduling lunch and recess to ensure that students have enough time to eat a balanced, nutritious meal and reduce food waste.

WENATCHEE, WA – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) was in Wenatchee with USDA Under Secretary Jenny Lester Moffitt to announce the availability of $72.9 million through the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP). This program funds innovative projects designed to support the expanding specialty crop sector and explore new market opportunities for U.S. food and agricultural products. The 8th District is home to over 4,000 farms.

ISSAQUAH, WA – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) took action this week to expand access to at-home, rapid tests for seniors and military families. Earlier this month a federal rule went into effect that would require private insurers to cover eight at-home test purchases at pharmacies. But millions of Americans don’t have private insurance. The two letters Rep. Schrier led would require Medicare and TRICARE to cover or reimburse the cost of rapid tests, giving our seniors and our men and women in uniform another tool in the toolbox to combat this virus.

Quality masks would help keep schools open and protect kids who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated

ISSAQUAH, WA – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging his Administration to take action on making more quality masks available for children. The Biden Administration announced this week that they will be making 400 million N95 masks free for pickup at pharmacies and community health centers across the country.
