WASHINGTON, DC – Today during an Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee hearing, U.S. Representative Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) pressed oil executives to do more to counter the skyrocketing price of gas at the pump, particularly at a time of crisis abroad, and when oil companies are making record profits and paying big dividends to shareholders. Rep. Schrier pushed the CEOs to use the thousands of leases on public land they already have, and to ramp up extraction at existing sites to boost production and bring down oil prices. Rep.

Tacoma Public Utilities also sells and supplies water to the City of Kent, the Covington Water District and the Lakehaven Water District in Federal Way.

WASHINGTON, DC – On Friday Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) and Bethel School District officials broke ground on a project to construct a school-based health center at Graham-Kapowsin High School. Earlier this month Rep. Schrier announced that this project was one of her 10 priorities to receive funding from the government funding bill.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) announced that she has secured $220 million in federal infrastructure funding for the long-needed downstream fish passage at the Howard Hanson Dam. Rep. Schrier has been pushing for this funding since taking office and led a delegation letter in November urging that this project be funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The celebration comes as the state passed its nearly $17 billion Move Ahead Washington Transportation Package earlier this month, which earmarked $640 million in funds to widen and add safety improvements to a five-mile stretch of SR 18 near Tiger Mountain — the last section in need of construction funding.

The funding from this bipartisan bill signed into law this month will support Washington first responders, local police departments, emergency response, and wildfire prevention.

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representatives Kim Schrier, M.D. (D-WA) and Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D. (R-IA), the only two women doctors in Congress, have introduced the Supporting Children’s Mental Health Care Access Act, a bill to reauthorize funding for children’s mental and behavioral health programs. This bill would help address the children’s mental health care crisis exacerbated by the pandemic.

ISSAQUAH, WA – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) announced that because of her efforts, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) will be partnering on a new pop-up container yard to ease congestion at the Port of Seattle. The 49-acre “pop-up” site will accept dry agricultural or refrigerated containers for temporary storage.

“The U.S. House of Representatives approved the MAPLand Act by an overwhelming bipartisan majority (414-9) last night. The bill aims to modernize mapping systems used by public-land agencies in order to make accessing and recreating on federal lands easier and less contentious. It will now move on to the Senate for a vote.
