WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) introduced the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act (ELSA). Approximately 3% of children nationwide are born with congenital anomalies - such as cleft lip or palate - and birth defects that, if gone untreated, can lead to lifelong medical complications. This bipartisan, bicameral legislation would expand access to care for individuals with congenital anomalies or birth defects by requiring insurance companies to cover necessary treatment and procedures.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Congresswoman Kim Schrier's, M.D. (WA-08) bipartisan Critical Infrastructure Manufacturing Feasibility Act. Congresswoman Schrier was joined in introducing this bipartisan legislation by Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D. (IA-01). This bill will direct the Secretary of Commerce to conduct a study on the feasibility of manufacturing more critical infrastructure goods in the United States, with a focus on identifying rural communities best suited to support domestic production.

The CHGME program supports the residency programs that train the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists. This bill would extend the CHGME program through 2030.
