WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representatives Kim Schrier, M.D. (D-WA) and Bill Johnson (R-OH) introduced bipartisan legislation to help bring emergency connectivity service in remote, underserved areas, or in areas experiencing service outages caused by natural disasters or other events in which communications infrastructure is destroyed.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023. The NDAA is Congress’ bill to maintain military readiness and increase national security. The legislation includes Rep. Schrier’s amendment to improve child care for families of servicemembers so they can be dependably service-ready. It now heads to the Senate and then the President’s desk to be signed into law.

WENATCHEE, WA – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) and U.S. Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) hosted U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for a celebration of the Apple Capital Loop project in Wenatchee. In June of last year, Rep. Schrier helped to secure a $92 million Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today U.S. Representatives Kim Schrier, M.D. (D-WA) and Peter Meijer (R-MI) introduced the Tax Credit for Student Parents Act. This bipartisan bill will make sure that student parents who are working to get a post-secondary degree, including vocational school and two and four-year universities, are eligible to receive the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (CDCTC), which helps to offset working families’ child care expenses.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today the U.S. House passed several law enforcement funding bills, including a bill Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) is a co-sponsor of, the Invest to Protect Act. The Invest to Protect Act will provide funding to small police departments to make sure they are equipped to respond to emergencies and keep their community safe. The bill passed the House 360-64. This House bill, a companion to the bill introduced by Senator Murray, has been introduced with the two other pro-choice doctors in Congress, Representatives Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-07) and Raul Ruiz, M.D.
