WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D (WA-08) voted for the FAA Reauthorization Act, which included her bill, H.R.3128, the American Aviator Act, to authorize competitive grants supporting flight-training services to Veterans.

Andrew Apple is a Veterans Law Fellow who is currently working in Representative Schrier’s office and a recipient of VA benefits made possible by the PACT Act.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representatives Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08), Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), Marilyn Strickland (WA-10), and Jen Kiggans (VA-02) introduced the bipartisan American Aviator Act - HR 3128 which establishes a pilot program at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to authorize competitive grants supporting flight-training services to Veterans who are not already military pilots.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) announced that local Veteran Jose Medina will be her guest for the 2023 State of the Union Address on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Mr. Medina served for two years as the Wounded Warrior Fellow in Rep. Schrier’s office. The Wounded Warrior Program, also known as the Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program, provides employment opportunities for recently discharged Veterans within the House of Representatives.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023. The NDAA is Congress’ bill to maintain military readiness and increase national security. The legislation includes Rep. Schrier’s amendment to improve child care for families of servicemembers so they can be dependably service-ready. It now heads to the Senate and then the President’s desk to be signed into law.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) again joined the House Veterans Affairs Committee for a hearing on the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system rollout at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center, which has affected the Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Wenatchee. Last year the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) began the deployment of the Cerner EHR in Spokane. Several Office of Inspector General (OIG) reports have since come out that show major flaws in the rollout that have led to patient harm. Rep.
