WASHINGTON, DC – Today, two West Coast U.S. Representatives, Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) and Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-07), introduced the Fire Ready Nation Act. This legislation will allow the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to be more involved in the detection and response of wildfires. U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) has introduced companion legislation in the Senate.

Community Project Funding provides the opportunity for Representatives to directly identify important local projects that can benefit from federal funding.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08), the only pro-choice woman doctor in Congress, participated in an Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee hearing on the recent Supreme Court decision on abortion rights. WASHINGTON, DC – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier’s, M.D. (WA-08) amendments to support Veterans, improve childcare for families of servicemembers, and strengthen wildfire preparedness passed the House with bipartisan support as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023. WASHINGTON, DC – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) led 21 of her colleagues in sending a letter to several officials in the Biden Administration, pushing them to implement a federal firefighter pay increase before peak wildfire season begins. An increase in pay and benefits for federal wildland firefighters was included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that President Biden signed last November.
