ISSAQUAH, WA – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to issue an executive order to streamline the process for approving rapid, at-home COVID tests. So far, the U.S. has approved eight tests, with only three tests currently available for purchase, compared to 36 in the UK and 34 in Germany.

ISSAQUAH, WA – U.S. Representative Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) joined wildland firefighters from around Washington state for a prescribed burn in Roslyn Urban Forest yesterday. Rep. Schrier donned wildland firefighting gear and held a drip torch while helping the prescribed fire crew create "good fire." Rep. Schrier has been pushing in Congress for more funding for prescribed fire, a tool that can be deployed to prevent more catastrophic fires during the fire season.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier's, M.D. (WA-08) amendments to assist Veterans and military spouses, and to improve pandemic preparedness passed the House in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2022. The NDAA is legislation passed annually to maintain military readiness, enhance capabilities, and prioritize technological security. It is expected to pass the Senate.

The Energy and Commerce Committee held a meeting over the last three days to pass its section of the bill which will lower health care costs, strengthen vaccine confidence, expand Medicare vision coverage, combat climate change, improve access to high-speed internet, and bolster clean energy infrastructure.
