ISSAQUAH, WA – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) took action this week to expand access to at-home, rapid tests for seniors and military families. Earlier this month a federal rule went into effect that would require private insurers to cover eight at-home test purchases at pharmacies. But millions of Americans don’t have private insurance. The two letters Rep. Schrier led would require Medicare and TRICARE to cover or reimburse the cost of rapid tests, giving our seniors and our men and women in uniform another tool in the toolbox to combat this virus.

ISSAQUAH, WA – This week Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) participated in an Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee hearing called "Cleaning Up Cryptocurrency: The Energy Impacts of Blockchains." Rep. Schrier welcomed Steve Wright, former General Manager of Chelan PUD, as a witness at the hearing to speak about how counties in North Central Washington took action to keep electricity affordable and reliable for consumers in the face of increased demand from crypto mining companies.

Quality masks would help keep schools open and protect kids who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated

ISSAQUAH, WA – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging his Administration to take action on making more quality masks available for children. The Biden Administration announced this week that they will be making 400 million N95 masks free for pickup at pharmacies and community health centers across the country.

The Supporting Health Care Providers During the COVID-19 Pandemic Act will mitigate Medicare payment cuts to providers. Without this law, cuts would have gone into effect next month, threatening to close practices and interrupt care. This is a necessary law that to support providers and keep the health care system stable in this pandemic, allowing patients to receive the care they need.
