WASHINGTON, D.C. - Washington State Representatives Dan Newhouse, Michael Baumgartner and Kim Schrier introduced the Maddie's Infant Recovery and Children's Legislative Emergency (MIRACLE) Act on Thursday to study Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS).

NAS is described as "a condition that affects newborns who receive opioids or addictive substances through the placenta during pregnancy."

CHELAN — After months of operating from a temporary mobile unit, progress is underway toward securing a permanent indoor home for the Chelan Post Office.

Since March, postal employees have continued providing core services while the original building underwent renovation. Both staff and residents have voiced concern about the lack of an indoor facility, especially as winter approaches.

CHELAN — The city of Chelan says it has made progress toward securing a permanent indoor location for the Chelan Post Office after the mail center operated out of a temporary mobile unit for the majority of the year.

The city has utilized the mobile postal unit since March while the original post office building undergoes renovations. The city says collaboration between local, state and federal partners has renewed in recent weeks.

Postmaster Randy Kopel and Mayor Erin McCardle have identified a new, unspecified location downtown, according to a press release.

U.S. Representative Kim Schrier is leading a demand for the Department of Energy to reverse its decision to terminate the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub. In a letter, Schrier, who represents Washington’s 8th District, and 14 other colleagues called the cancellation of $1 billion in funding “disgraceful.” The hub, located throughout Washington, Oregon and Montana, was sent forward after years of bipartisan advocacy that argued it would increase domestic energy production. The hub is expected to create more than 10,000 jobs and contribute $4 million in workforce training programs.
