LEAVENWORTH — Congresswoman Kim Schrier visited Leavenworth on July 10 to visit local businesses, talk with leaders about conditions in the Enchantments, and tour Cascade Medical to discuss support for rural healthcare.
Schrier’s visit started with a tour of downtown Leavenworth led by Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Troy Campbell, stopping at the new Willkommen Center and businesses along Front Street.

A year after the Enchantments became a nationwide symbol of understaffing and overcrowding on public lands, the prized wilderness destination in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest outside of Leavenworth will see more rangers, trail crews and other stewards this year through a combination of renewed Forest Service hiring and partnership arrangements with recreation nonprofits.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswomen Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08), and Andrea Salinas (OR-06) led 21 of their colleagues in demanding answers from the Trump Administration on deteriorating Forest Service trail conditions due to insufficient maintenance by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), which has threatened visitor safety and outdoor recreation access for millions of Americans.
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08), introduced the bipartisan Reforestation, Nurseries, and Genetic Resources (RNGR) Support Act of 2026. This bill would strengthen Washington State’s wildfire resiliency and the national reforestation pipeline by formalizing the United States Forest Service’s RNGR program. Congresswoman Schrier is joined in introducing this legislation by Congressman Jack Bergman (MI-01).
