Wenatchee RiverCom 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Upgrades

Wenatchee RiverCom 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Upgrades - Wenatchee, WA - 140 S Mission St., Wenatchee, WA 98801

Amount Requested: $972,000

The funding would be used for the purchase of critical radio equipment to support local law enforcement officers in the Wenatchee area. RiverCom 911 is the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for Chelan and Douglas Counties, providing 911 and emergency dispatch services to all law enforcement officers in the area. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because RiverCom 911 currently operates with just 11 dispatch stations, which is insufficient as they experience increased call loads, reach surge capacity during major incidents, and serve as the backup center for a neighboring PSAP. This project would allow RiverCom 911 to fully serve the public's emergency services needs during times of high call volume, major incidents, and when neighboring dispatch centers’ 911 calls are routed to RiverCom when their systems go down. The addition of new radio equipment will allow their team to fully leverage current and emerging 911 technologies that will ensure they can connect with callers anywhere in the region, know their location, and quickly get them the help they need. This project is supported by the Chelan County Sheriff's Office, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the Wenatchee Police Department, and the East Wenatchee Police Department.
