Snoqualmie Pass Fire & Rescue Fire Engine
Snoqualmie Pass Fire & Rescue Fire Engine - Snoqualmie Pass, WA - 1211 State Route 906 Snoqualmie Pass, WA 98068
Amount Requested: $1,522,481
The funding would be used for the purchase of a front-line fire engine to service the Snoqualmie Pass community along the Interstate 90 corridor. This new engine would include key features such as enclosed compartments to protect firefighting and rescue tools from corrosion, heated pump and plumbing systems to prevent freezing, and four-wheel drive for reliable response on icy, snow-covered roadways. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the current engine is severely corroded and no longer compliant with modern safety and performance standards. Snoqualmie Pass Fire & Rescue is often the first agency on scene during emergencies, including structure fires, vehicle accidents, hazardous roadway conditions, and wildland incidents. Firefighters stabilize damaged vehicles, extricate injured occupants, provide emergency medical care, and coordinate patient transport, all before the Washington State Department of Transportation and the Washington State Patrol can reopen roadways. The new fire engine will directly improve rapid response, enhance public safety, and reduce the duration of roadway closures along I-90, a major east–west transportation corridor used by tens of thousands of vehicles daily, including over 8,000 commercial trucks.
