Muckleshoot Tribe Upper White River Bridge Replacement

Muckleshoot Indian Tribe
39015 172nd Ave SE
Auburn, WA 98092

Amount Requested: $1,750,000

The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe is requesting funding assistance to replace a bridge located on the White River, upstream from the Town of Greenwater. There is concern that current or future sidechannel flows may erode threatening access to permitted hunting grounds, usual and accustomed harvesting grounds, and road access for wildfire response. Further, salmon habitat areas are threatened by the potential of non-river bed sediment flowing down river. This is a good use of taxpayer funds because without corrective action, the continued degradation of the bridge and associated environment will threaten salmon populations and degrade culverts and river shorelines protecting the Town of Greenwater and adjacent properties from hazardous flooding events. Additionally, access for fire management will be impacted in the event that there is a response needed.

Federal Nexus: The project has a Federal nexus because the funding provided is for purposes authorized by 23 U.S.C. 202.
