Forest roads repair bill also passes

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) today voted for HR 2, the Moving Forward Act, the House's $1.5 trillion infrastructure package.

"The coronavirus pandemic has taken a severe toll on our economy, has resulted in permanent loss of countless jobs, and has highlighted the need for broadband access for workers and students," said Rep. Schrier. "That is why The Moving Forward Act is so critical right now. It is a bold infrastructure package that will put America back to work, create new jobs, expand broadband access, and invest in schools and tomorrow's clean energy infrastructure."

HR 2, the Moving Forward Act will:

  • Rebuild our highways, bridges, transit, rail, airports, ports and harbors
  • Invest in our children's futures by rebuilding and constructing schools
  • Modernize our energy infrastructure for a clean energy future
  • Invest boldly in affordable housing
  • Expand affordable high-speed Internet to underserved communities

In addition, Rep. Schrier's Legacy Roads and Trails bill that will assist the Forest Service with repairing culverts and forest roads passed with the Moving Forward Act. Rep. Schrier also had an amendment pass that will ensure Washington's small and medium sized public transit agencies have flexibility and predictability to continue to serve riders during this public health crisis.
