Rep. Schrier Joins President Biden for Signing of Veterans Health Care Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Representative Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) recently joined President Joe Biden at the White House as he signed the Major Medical Facility Authorization Act of 2021 into law. Representative Schrier was an original cosponsor of the bill as it was introduced in the House by Representative Colin Allred (TX-32).
"Our nation's Veterans have sacrificed so much in defense of our country. It is important that we show up for our Veterans, the same way they've shown up for us, and make sure they have access to the care that they deserve," said Rep. Schrier. "As a doctor, I understand the importance of high quality, affordable care and this bill will help more Veterans receive just that. I'm proud to be a leader on this issue and was honored to stand with President Biden as he signed this legislation into law."
This bipartisan bill authorizes $2.08 billion for several Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) construction projects funded in fiscal year 2021. Included in the bill is $110.6 million in funding for a specialty care building in the American Lake VA Medical Center in Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
