Meadowbrook Bridge Restoration

Meadowbrook Bridge Restoration - Snoqualmie, WA - 38624 SE River Street 987 Snoqualmie, WA 98065

Amount Requested: $2,636,000

The funding would be used to restore a historic steel bridge that crosses the Snoqualmie River and connects two sides of the city. Originally built in 1921 as a two lane bridge, it currently operates as a single lane structure with a 30 ton weight limit. Restoration will address the bridge’s structural deficiencies, remove the load restriction, and provide a safe, reliable crossing to a growing part of the city. This project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the bridge is currently identified by the Washington Department of Transportation as a Local Agency Bridge in Poor Condition and has load restrictions. This project would ensure a safe and reliable crossing for city traffic traveling from Snoqualmie, Fall City, and North Bend -- including buses and peak hour commuter traffic. If the bridge over the Snoqualmie River were ever damaged or temporarily closed, Meadowbrook Bridge would serve as the primary detour route, maintaining regional mobility. Development in Snoqualmie has evolved around this crossing, with much of the city on the south side of the river. Mt. Si High School is a few hundred feet south of the bridge and generates high-peak hour traffic, including school buses. As the city continues to develop and the bridge condition continues to degrade, this project would ensure a safe, reliable route for travelers and the surrounding community.
