IRS Casework
I understand that my constituents may run into issues with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Whether it be a problem with your tax return, closing finances for a loved one who has passed away, or another issue, please know that my office is here to help.
Our caseworkers have years of experiencing advocating for our constituents and working with officials at the IRS to help resolve discrepancies. Here's what some constituents have had to say about their experience with our casework team.
“My deceased mother's final tax return was several months past when it should have been processed, and I couldn't find any way to know what was holding it up. Your staff was incredibly helpful with contacting the IRS on my behalf. Within a few weeks the return was finally processed, and we were able to close her estate.” - Justine from Woodinville.
“Our nonprofit had waited over 5 months to hear back from the IRS about final 501(c)(3) status. We could not get any information or updates through our lawyers or on our own. Rep. Schrier's office contacted a tax advocate on our behalf and continued to work to get a favorable response for our organization. Her staff gave me frequent updates on contact and status. I didn't have to wonder if someone was working toward the same goal and purpose-we knew Rep. Schrier was invested on our behalf. The waiting period was detrimental to our clinic as we were unable to acquire any grant or foundation funding. Without the advocacy and voice of Rep Schrier's office I don't know how long we would have had to wait to hear back about our approval. We are so thankful for the extra help in contacting the IRS and getting our final approval.” - Misty from Fall City.
“I contacted the Schrier office about a tax issue. I had filed a tax return making an error. My attempt to rectify the issue was not handled efficiently. The gentlemen in Kim Schrier's office took over advocacy for me and the issue was successfully handled. I am grateful for the effort made on my behalf.” - Margaret from Arlington.
“I tried for a year on my own to receive a $7,000-plus tax refund from the IRS. It was money that was owed my deceased father, payable to myself and his other heirs. Nothing but the runaround from IRS. I contacted Rep. Schrier's office and they got a tax advocate on it who had our money to us, with a hefty interest payment, within 5 months. Huge thanks to our fabulous House member and her staff!” - Michael from Woodinville.
While we cannot guarantee you a favorable outcome, we will do our best to help you receive a fair and timely response to your problem.
