Granite Falls Sewer and Water System Upgrade

Granite Falls Sewer and Water System Upgrade - Granite Falls, WA - 215 S Granite Avenue, Granite Falls, WA 98252

Amount Requested: $750,000

The funding would be used for the construction of municipal sewer and water infrastructure in Granite Falls, ultimately connecting 15-20 properties to the municipal wastewater system, extending municipal water mains to replace five private wells, and transitioning customers connected to a wholesale transmission main owned by Snohomish County PUD to a city-owned water main designed for retail service. This project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because Granite Falls currently relies on a decentralized water infrastructure system – including approximately 27 industrial parcels currently served by an estimated 17 on-site septic systems and a combination of private groundwater wells. Continued reliance on this system presents long-term risk to groundwater quality as water infrastructure ages. This project would address decentralized wastewater discharge through the construction of a modern, centralized system critical to the health of the surrounding communities and environment.
