Gold Bar Community Water Resilience and Fire Protection Enhancement

Gold Bar Community Water Resilience and Fire Protection Enhancement - Gold Bar, WA - 107 5th St, Gold Bar, WA, 98251

Amount Requested: $900,000

The funding would be used for the construction of a 250,000-gallon water storage tank and water main improvements, along with the purchase of water pumps to improve water flow to fire hydrants and combat increased risks of wildfires. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the City of Gold Bar, a rural community in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, is increasingly vulnerable to wildfire risks. The entire city falls within the Wildfire Urban Interface (WUI), as designated by the U.S. Fire Administration. Increasing the available water storage capacity and the ability to deliver adequate firefighting flows to hydrants will improve the city's resiliency and reduce risks to citizens. The project will add 36 percent more water storage capacity and increase the available firefighting water flow by 63 percent.
