Snoqualmie Indian Tribe – Child Development Center Expansion
Snoqualmie Tribe
9571 Ethan Wade Way SE
Snoqualmie, WA 98065
Amount Requested: $1,500,000
Child care options in the City of Snoqualmie and surrounding area are extremely limited and the demand is increasing. The expansion of the Snoqualmie Tribe’s childcare center will increase capacity in the center to help meet this increased demand. The staff at the center will also teach cultural activities such as harvesting indigenous plants and traditional cooking.
The demand for childcare has returned to pre-pandemic levels, but there are fewer resources available to parents and children. The pandemic caused many childcare facilities in the Snoqualmie Valley/Eastside to close. This, in addition to staffing shortages, has resulted in fewer children being able to be accommodated. This facility, owned and operated by the Tribe and open to all residents, is a necessity for working families in the area. Additionally, the center will create nineteen direct jobs as well as support local vendors.
