CPF Sammamish Plateau Water PFAS Treatment Plant
Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District
1510 228th Avenue SE
Sammamish, WA 98075
Amount Requested: $1,585,000.00
This project will allow the Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District to construct a water treatment plant to remove PFAS from its wells to allow its customers to have safe drinking water. Current PFAS levels exceed a Washington State Department of Health standard proposed for implementation in 2021 which would require the District to treat its water to remove PFAS and/or issue health advisory notices to its customers. In 2016, PFAS was detected in three of Sammamish Plateau Water’s primary groundwater production wells located in the Lower Issaquah Valley.
PFAS chemicals in drinking water pose health risks. The project will mitigate a public health risk resulting from PFAS contamination of the aquifer located in the Lower Issaquah Valley (LIV), protecting 65,000 customers.
