With over 70% of its area being public land, Kittitas County is a major recreation destination for people from all over Washington State. Currently, emergency response for search and rescue and wildland fires is done from Ellensburg, adding critical time to the response. This project would fund the construction of a new centralized Emergency Operation Center central to the recreation hub and closer to the fire district where the majority of wildland fires occur.

A unified emergency response center will provide a more cost effective, more efficient, and more timely administration of public safety services.
