Issaquah Valley Aquifer

City of Issaquah
130 E Sunset Way
Issaquah, WA 98027

Amount Requested: $600,000

The Issaquah Valley Aquifer is an important source of water to the City of Issaquah and the neighboring water and sewer district, Sammamish Plateau Water. In 2016, the City of Issaquah installed a treatment system after detecting PFAS in one of the wells. Improvements are needed to make the temporary treatment a permanent solution and allow Issaquah to meet the State Action Levels. This project will add two improvements to the existing Granular Activated Carbon PFAS treatment system to prevent freezing and connect the backwash process waste to the sewer.

Keeping the current well in operation and upgrading the existing PFAS treatment system will reduce demand on neighboring utilities, mitigate PFAS in the water supply for residents, and make sure that residents in the city of Issaquah have access to clean water.
