HopeSource Teanaway Multi-Service Center

700 E Mountain View Ave
Unit 501
Ellensburg, WA 98926

Amount Requested: $2,030,000

Affordable housing and child care options in rural Kittitas County are limited. More than half of Kittitas County residents are considered “rent-burdened,” spending up to 50% of their income on housing or doubling up to afford housing. And according to Child Care Aware of Washington, the number of childcare providers in Kittitas County has dropped from 30 to 18 since 2015. At the same time, childcare costs have risen over 35% in the last five years. This project will significantly increase access to affordable housing, child care and social support services by adding 40 housing units, a 50-seat early learning child care center, and a neighborhood nutrition center and community gathering space.

The housing and emergency service programs HopeSource operates have proven successful in moving families toward greater self-sufficiency over a broad range of populations in six counties in Central Washington. Increasing access to quality, affordable, child care for all children in Kittitas County will better support working families. The construction and development of Teanaway Multi-Service Center will create more than thirty-five permanent jobs and will be an investment in the community's economic growth.
