Chelan County Chelan River Heights Housing
The Chelan County Chelan River Heights Housing Project would support streetscaping and local road and infrastructure improvements, including water and sewer system expansion. This project involves building infrastructure for a mixed income housing development at Chelan River Heights to increase the supply of affordable homes. The Chelan Valley has experienced a drastic increase in the cost of living, with home prices at more than double what average earners can afford and with average rents rising to make up more than 30% of residents’ income. A Housing Needs Assessment was completed by the City of Chelan in 2018 and identified the need for 300 new units over the next 20 years to accommodate growth. In total, this development will include 66 mixed income homes, but the first phase will include seven new affordable housing units for low-to-moderate income households.
