Pangborn Memorial Airport (EAT) in Wenatchee, operated by the Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority, needs funding for modernization of its aviation terminal originally constructed in the 1960s. Beginning January 2024, the Washington Army National Guard intends to relocate its operations from Fairchild Air Force Base to Pangborn in order to base its helicopters closer to the operational area for central Washington wildfire response as well as nearby training areas. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will provide sufficient apron space for GA aircraft, ensuring aircraft are able to safely navigate the apron and taxiways upon arrival and departure. Project funding is needed to meet these needs and enable Pangborn Wenatchee Regional Airport to continue to serve the over 100,000 residents of Wenatchee Valley, businesses in Chelan and Douglas counties, and general aviation users of the airport.
Federal Nexus: The project has a Federal nexus because the funding provided is for purposes authorized by 49 U.S.C. 47100 et seq.
