Casework FAQs
I know that navigating issues with a federal agency can be a difficult and confusing task. That's why my office is here to help. To help clear up any possible confusion, here are some of the most frequently asked questions with regards to the casework services that my office can provide:
Once submitting my request, how soon can I expect to hear back from someone?
My dedicated casework team does their best to get back to our constituents in a timely manner. Once all necessary documents are received, someone from our team will reach out to you. Typically, this takes between 2-3 business days. If you have any questions or want an update, you can call my Issaquah office at (425) 657-1001.
How long will it take to resolve my case?
The timeline for resolving your case can vary greatly depending on the specifics of your case. Please know that my casework team works as quickly as they can and are working diligently to resolve your case efficiently.
I need a passport as soon as possible. Can your office help?

Can you help me receive a delayed tax return?

Is there a way to honor our Vietnam Veterans?
Yes there is! My office is proud to be a part of the Vietnam Veterans Lapel Pin program. Where we get to honor our veterans that did not get that welcome home they rightfully deserved. Please contact my office and we would love to set up an event where I would have the pleasure of meeting the veterans and talk with them personally.
My application with USCIS has been pending longer than their regular processing time. Can you ask USCIS for an update or expedite on my application?
Yes! If your application is past USCIS' regular processing time, we can request a status update on your application. If you fit in USCIS's expedite criteria, usually a humanitarian reason or facing financial loss because your application is processing, we can request an expedite with supporting documentation.
I am having problems with receiving unemployment benefits with the Employment Security Department (ESD). Can you help?
My office can assist you with difficulties you experience with federal agencies but we do not have direct oversight over state agencies like ESD. Please contact your state or local representative for assistance. If you are unsure who your state representatives are, enter your address into the Washington State Legislature District Finder. We are also happy to make a referral if you contact us about your issue with a state or local agency.
Can your office provide legal advice or attorney referrals?
Unfortunately, congressional offices are unable to offer legal advice or recommend an attorney. The rules of the House of Representatives do not allow our offices to intervene in or influence the outcome of cases that are under the jurisdiction of any court. The Washington Bar Association might be able to provide more guidance on finding legal assistance."If you are looking for immigration specific legal guidance, additional information on authorized legal services are available on USCIS' website at www.uscis.gov/avoidscams.
I am having trouble with the Postal Service. Can your office help?
Absolutely! My office has helped constituents find their missing mail, fix a broken mailbox and much more. Please do not hesitate to reach out to my office.
