Dr. Kim Schrier Sworn In to Represent Washington State’s 8th Congressional District
Washington, D.C. – Dr. Kim Schrier was officially sworn in Thursday as the new Representative from Washington State’s 8th Congressional District. She was joined by her husband David and their son for this important ceremony.
“I am honored to represent the people of the 8th District and be their voice here in Washington, D.C.,” said Congresswoman Schrier. “As the lone female doctor in the House, I bring a unique perspective to D.C. and the issues facing our country like lowering health care costs, preventing gun violence, and helping working families get ahead. I will fight every day to bring common sense solutions to complicated problems that will benefit people in the 8th district and across the country.”
The first votes Congresswoman Schrier took after being sworn in were to reopen the government and on a new package of rules for the 116th Congress to bring transparency and accountability to the House of Representatives.
Prior to being elected to Congress on November 6, 2018, Kim spent her career as a pediatrician in Issaquah, working with children across the 8th District and helping their families navigate the health care system. In Congress, Kim will continue to serve 8th District families, with a passion for issues that improve the lives, health, and wellbeing of children.
